The Photography Club of Guru Nanak Dev University is a vibrant, dynamic, and ever-evolving student-led organization that brings together individuals who are passionate about photography and visual storytelling. The club acts as a canvas for students to express their creativity, imagination, and technical knowledge.

About the Club

Under the guidance of our esteemed faculty in-charges, Dr. Deepika Saraf and Dr. Palwinder Singh Bhatia, the club functions throughout the academic year, organizing various activities, workshops, photo-walks, competitions, and exhibitions that foster skill-building, collaboration, and personal growth.

What We Do

The Photography Club at GNDU is much more than just clicking pictures – it is a creative platform for students to:

Master Techniques

Develop and master photography techniques through theory and practice

Explore Creativity

Explore art and creativity via camera lenses and digital media

Campus Projects

Work on real-time campus projects and event coverages

Visual Storytelling

Engage through storytelling, photojournalism, and themed shoots

Workshops & Learning Opportunities

To help students become proficient in photography and digital art, the club organizes a wide range of workshops:

Camera Handling & DSLR Basics

Conducted in collaboration with professionals from Canon and Sony, students learn about camera settings, handling techniques, and real-world usage.

Photography Fundamentals & Advanced Composition

Sessions focused on exposure triangle, lighting, framing, and genres including portrait, landscape, wildlife, and street photography.

Software & Editing Workshops

Hands-on training on Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Canva for post-processing, graphic design, and video editing.

Art & Therapy Workshops

Mandala Art, sketching, doodling, calligraphy, and origami to improve focus, relieve stress, and boost creativity.

Specialized Sessions

Light Painting, Smoke Photography, and Thematic Shoots to introduce unconventional and experimental techniques.

Activities & Competitions

Our club conducts fun and engaging activities to nurture a competitive yet collaborative spirit:

Photo-walks

Regular excursions to iconic locations around Amritsar and nearby areas for practical learning, networking, and exploring new photography themes.

Annual Creative Exhibition

A showcase of the best artworks and photographs by our members, celebrating the depth and diversity of imagination within the club.

On-the-Spot Competitions

Events such as:

  • Graffiti Wall Challenge – Collaborative abstract art
  • Thematic Photography Contests – Snapshot, Frame It, Capture It
  • Creative Art Challenges – Shoe painting, clay modeling, poster-making

Campus Event Coverage

Covering major university events such as Independence Day, Republic Day, Youth Fest, cultural nights, theatre fests, seminars, and exhibitions.
