About School of Education

The School of Education (SOE) at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar operates under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT), a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. The mission is dedicated to enhancing the quality of teachers and teaching across higher educational institutions in India.

The SOE is anchored at the Department of Education, GNDU, and functions as a Centre for Pre-Service Teacher Education. It designs and delivers a wide range of capacity-building programmes including workshops, faculty development programmes, seminars, webinars, and online training sessions aimed at pre-service and in-service teachers, faculty members, and academic researchers across the region.

The SOE has successfully conducted programmes under PMMMNMTT from 2018 onwards, covering diverse areas such as e-content development, research methodology, instructional strategies, inclusive education, ICT-enabled teaching, and academic writing.

Through its structured academic calendar and expert-led sessions, the School of Education strives to equip educators with contemporary pedagogical skills and research competencies, in alignment with the National Education Policy and the evolving needs of India's higher education landscape.

The School of Education invites research proposals from faculty members and researchers under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT). Research projects are funded to promote scholarly inquiry into teaching, learning, and educational innovation.
