GJCEI โ Infinity
The Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, popularly known as "Infinity,"
was inaugurated on the University Campus to mark the 50th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev
University's establishment. This landmark centre was set up with the financial and
institutional support of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) 2.0, a flagship
Government of India programme aimed at transforming higher education.
GJCEI was conceived with a clear and purposeful mandate: to generate and nurture new
knowledge, foster a culture of innovation, promote entrepreneurship among youth, and sharpen
the skill sets of the next generation of leaders. The centre aspires to create a thriving
ecosystem where ideas take shape, startups flourish, and students evolve into confident
entrepreneurs and problem-solvers.
Recognized as one of the most organized incubation centres in the region, GJCEI currently
mentors 40 active startups spanning diverse thrust areas and continues to
expand its impact across campus and the wider Punjab region.
The centre is driven by an inclusive organizational model that brings together student
participation, faculty involvement, and alumni engagement. GJCEI has its own Student
Council, comprising exceptionally talented students selected from various university
departments, each contributing their domain expertise to the centre's growth and outreach.
These young minds actively participate in decision-making processes and take ownership of
key functional areas.
The Student Council operates through focused teams covering event management, content
development, promotion and outreach, sensitization and awareness programmes, IT and social
media management, and press and publications. This team-based structure empowers students
to develop leadership skills while contributing meaningfully to the centre's mission. To
ensure effective governance, detailed mandates, focus areas, and operational policies have
been developed, supported by a strong advisory board that periodically reviews the centre's
processes and progress.
GJCEI organizes a diverse range of activities to foster an innovation-driven environment both
on campus and in the wider region. These include idea-pitching competitions, startup yatras,
mega idea hunt events, IPR workshops, and interactive sessions with industry representatives
from leading bodies such as the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), PHD Chamber of
Commerce, and FICCI. For wider dissemination of its activities, the centre actively uses
social media platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
